J & C O'Meara | Woodworking Machinery | UK
1990

J&C O'Meara was established as a service orientated company, but we soon evolved into purchasing surplus machinery and machinery from auctions and liquidations taking on our first rented unit of 3,600 sq ft in 1992 based in Southport, Merseyside.

Over the next 6 years we continued with the purchase, refurbishment and resale of used machinery and, in 1998, with the introduction of the PUWER 98 regulations, we started to supply new machinery.

By the year 2000, the company had outgrown its first premises and needed more space due to the expansion of the new machinery sales and the new machinery agencies which had been agreed. This led to our second move into a larger unit in Banks, Lancashire just on the outskirts of Southport.

2000

By the year 2003, the company once again needed more space and better facilities as around 75% of the companies' activities had switched to the supply of new machinery which was compliant to both CE and PUWER 98 safety standards.

2003 we purchased a modern Industrial premise centrally located with easy access to Manchester, Liverpool and Preston and offers a 5,000 sq ft showroom with possibly one of the largest displays of sliding table panelsaws in the UK. Over the years, the Company has built up a quality customer base and enjoys the benefit of repeat business from loyal customers both far and wide.

2003

In 2005, we agreed to work with Swiss sanding machinery manufacturer Kundig and to set up a sales network and oversee their activity in the UK.

2005

The 5th January was the worst possible start to the 2006 when, without warning, we lost our father, Mr Joseph O’Meara.

The same year we parted company with one of our biggest suppliers, Altendorf which were replaced with the Genisis sliding table panel saws.

2006

In 2008, we introduced the briquetting machines to the Genisis range and showcased the Genisis products for the first time at the W8 Woodworking Machinery Exhibition.

Also in this year, the recession hit, but we survived!

2008

In 2007, we extended our factory to give a further 1100 sq ft.

2007

In 2014, we introduced the Genisis 512S edge bander, giving the small to medium size manufacturer an affordable PVC/ABS machine with pre-milling and corner rounding.

We invested in a new dedicated delivery vehicle to give a cost-effective and reliable customer service experience.

2014

Having spoken with the AES group for the previous two years, we agreed to work with them and started by introducing their smallest CNC, the through feed Sirius drilling and routing machine.

Once again, we extended our factory to give 7,500 sq ft.

2016

The first AES Sirius machines came into stock in 2017 and we organised the refurbishment of the factory.

2017

In 2018, we invested in a new dedicated customer care vehicle and attended the W18 Woodworking Machinery Exhibition.

Once again, we extended our factory to give 7,500 sq ft.

2018

In 2020, Jeff Green joined us as National Sales Manager bringing a wealth of manufacturing expertise having previously been operations manager at Apex Interiors and founder of Integral Surface Designs.

In March this year, Covid hit. No one really knew the implications or impact this would have on their business and, as instructed, we closed for 3 months with the staff being placed on furlough. During this time, we also had to give the final decision on our planned move to new premises.

2020

In 2021, we moved to new larger premises with better facilities to showcase the increased demand for our product range and it is designed to give a better customer experience from demonstrations through to training and support.

Our product range also expanded this year to include a new series of edge banding machines from the compact machine through to CNC controlled machines with optional PUR gluepot.

2021

2022 was another busy year with increased sales for the AES CNC machines.

2022

Our company is run with a 'direct approach' with all existing and potential customers being catered for on an individual basis.

Our mission has always been to offer quality new and used machinery, complimented with a no-nonsense warranty, ensuring customers' total peace of mind. We are one of a very few independent machinery supply outlets who have actually chosen the products with which we wish to be associated, as a result, we are not bound to offer the 'rough with the smooth'.

It all started over 30 years ago in Merseyside.
